Tomorrow, June 8, Silesian Park will become the center of an ecological celebration, inviting residents to the Blue EcoFest – a family picnic full of inspiration, knowledge and sports activities. The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Big Dance Circle.
Blue EcoFest: a unique regional event
Blue EcoFest is a unique event on a regional scale, aimed at all residents of the Silesian region, but not only. At the same time, it is a unique opportunity to explore topics related to ecology, health and sustainability.
Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship Wojciech Saługa encourages participation: All residents are invited to participate in the Blue EcoFest. This is a great opportunity to learn together how to take care of our environment and promote sustainability. We believe that through education and activism we can work together to build a better future for the people of the province. It’s also an opportunity to feel the joy of being part of a community that cares about its surroundings and builds a better future.
The Blue EcoFest is a unique opportunity to celebrate and educate about environmental protection, but also to build social values and promote healthy lifestyles among the province’s residents. Silesia, which has struggled for years with environmental problems, is now betting on a green future. And the LIFE integrated project “Silesia. ‘Restoring the Blue’ is an important part of this effort. The picnic is an event aimed at entire families, offering a host of activities that combine learning with fun. From interactive workshops to sports and art shows to educational lectures, it all creates a space where there is something for everyone, regardless of age. Spending time together like this strengthens family ties and promotes a healthy lifestyle. Children learn the importance of protecting the environment, and adults have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and get involved in environmentally friendly activities. Rafał Adamczyk, a member of the Silesian Voivodeship Management Board, adds.
Valuable knowledge and many attractions
The picnic program includes numerous activities divided into four sectors: sports, educational, exhibition and cultural. Sports enthusiasts will be able to participate in spinning workouts, silent fitness sessions, Pilates, yoga, running with marathoners and classes with young karatekas. During the picnic, participants will have the opportunity to conduct telescopic observations of the sun, science experiments in mobile laboratories, watch demonstrations of emergency medical services and firefighting equipment, and learn about the operation of electric cars and buses in the mobile transportation zone.
The event will feature more than 20 information and education booths run by various institutions and organizations that will share their knowledge about our environment. In addition, there will be a mini bookstore with books on environmental and climate issues.
There will also be a number of lightning lectures on the impact of storms on the climate, horticulture, community gardens, light pollution, animal health and much more. Participants will learn about methods of purifying water, soil and air by bacteria, the benefits of train travel, the ins and outs of beekeeping, and will have the opportunity to discuss climate facts and myths.
At 18:05 we invite you to a lecture by Katarzyna Biegun, our editorial expert on water management, on flash floods. This will be an opportunity to explore the topic of extreme weather events and their impact on our lives. Katharine Biegun will present practical tips on how to protect against floods, which could prove extremely valuable in the context of increasingly frequent weather anomalies. The editors of Water Matters also encourage children to participate in the water knowledge quiz – Lego sets to be won!
For the youngest there will be a sports activity zone, plein air painting, learning how to milk cows, mega board games and chalk drawing on the sidewalk. Also planned are contests with prizes and surprises to make the time spent in Silesian Park more enjoyable. Each participant will receive a small gift, and eco-advisors from the program Silesia. Bringing back the blue will provide advice on heat sources, thermal upgrading of buildings and financing options.
The more of us, the more trees will be planted
One of the important elements of the picnic will be a tree planting campaign. Every participant in the Blue EcoFest will contribute to increasing greenery in the region. For each person who participates in the event, a tree will be planted in their name in the Silesian province. This is a symbolic action that shows that even small steps can lead to big changes.
Joint actions for ecology
The partners of the “Blue EcoFest” are 49 institutions, organizations and companies from the Silesian province, which will offer a rich program of workshops, competitions, games, presentations and surprises at their stands. The organizers of the event are: Silesian Voivodeship, Silesian Park, Silesian Stadium and the City of Chorzow. The Blue EcoFest is organized as part of an integrated project LIFE “Silesia. Restoring the Blue”. Comprehensive implementation of the Air Protection Program for the Silesian Voivodeship carried out with funding from the LIFE Program of the European Union and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (LIFE20 IPE/PL/000007 – LIFE-IP AQP-SILESIAN-SKY) and is the official Partner Event of the European Union Green Week.
