Time is slowly running out for submitting applications for investment funding under the FEnIKS program, measure FENX.1.2. It will expire on November 30 of this year. The recruitment is conducted by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Warsaw. FEnIKS is European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment, and its implementation is aimed at adapting urbanized areas to climate change. We would like to remind you of the most important rules for the call for proposals under the FENX.1.2 measure.
FEnIKS – key information: who, where and when can apply?
We wrote about investment funding under this program in the fifth issue of Water Matters in the article “Funds for MPAs in the FEnIKS program”. As the deadline for the first call for proposals for the FENX.1.2 measure approaches, we remind you of the most important information.
Program
European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021-2027 is funding under the FENX.1 priority Support to the energy and environment sectors from the Cohesion Fund, measure FENX.1.2 Adaptation of urbanized areas to climate change (project type: Support for sustainable rainwater management systems with green/ green-blue infrastructure / nature-based solutions).
For whom are the subsidies intended?
Poland’s largest cities, numbering more than 100,000. residents, from 2016 to 2018 participated in a joint project to develop MPA documents, or municipal adaptation plans. Each major city has created its own document that lays out directions for development in line with climate change. Warsaw prepared its MPA separately, as part of the AdaptCity program. Urbanization centers with a developed adaptation plan and an adequate population can apply for funding under the FEnIKS program, measure FENX.1.2.
Smaller cities (15-20,000 residents) can apply for funds from the FEnIKS program under measure FENX.2.4 – the call also ends on November 30.
Where and when to apply for funding under FENX.01.02?
Applications for funding must be submitted exclusively through the CST2021 system at wod.cst2021.gov.pl until November 30, 2023. The recruitment is conducted by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, located in Warsaw.
Disclosure of the results is planned for Q1/Q2 next year.
What can you get funding for from FEnIKS under the FENX.1.2 measure?
The chance for funding will be given to investments included in the MPA plans of individual cities. These include sustainable and climate-adapted rainwater management systems and green-blue infrastructure development:
- Systems to prevent and reduce flooding and waterlogging;
- Systems to protect urban space from extreme weather events (flash floods and downpours);
- Water retention in local catchments;
- Slowing down rainwater runoff;
- Distribution systems for water retention in times of drought;
- Development of modern sewage systems;
- Development of blue-green infrastructure.
Under the FENX.1.2 measure, funding of up to 77 percent can be obtained. eligible expenses. The pool for investment subsidies in large cities is PLN 500 million. All information on funding under FENX.1.2 and on other calls under FEnIKS can be found at: European Funds Portal.
