VII European Agricultural Forum – key topics and challenges for agriculture in 2025

European Agricultural Forum

On March 26–27, 2025, the VII European Agricultural Forum will take place – one of the most important events dedicated to the agricultural sector in Poland and Europe. This year’s edition will bring together experts, policymakers, representatives of the agri-food industry, and farmers to discuss the key challenges and opportunities facing modern agriculture. The discussions will cover agricultural policy, environmental protection, technological innovations, and socio-economic changes affecting rural areas. The forum will be held in Jasionka near Rzeszów at the ZEN.COM Expo Exhibition and Congress Center of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship (formerly G2A Arena).

Key debates – shaping the future of agriculture

The first debate, scheduled for March 26, will focus on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy in the context of the new European Parliament term. Participants will analyze the direction of this policy and consider strategies that can ensure the stability and competitiveness of the agricultural sector in Poland and the European Union.

“European agricultural policy faces significant challenges. We must develop effective support mechanisms that will allow farmers to grow their farms sustainably and efficiently,” said Krzysztof Podhajski, President of the Board of the European Fund for the Development of Polish Villages, the main organizer of the event.

The second debate, held on March 27, will be dedicated to the competitiveness of the Polish food economy in the face of environmental challenges. Panelists will discuss the goals of the European Green Deal and their impact on the food sector, particularly in the context of investments in green energy, such as biogas plants. The discussion will also address international consumer expectations regarding Polish agri-food products and the challenges posed by implementing ESG regulations.

In-depth analysis through expert panels

The forum will also feature a series of expert panels covering the most pressing issues in modern agriculture. One of the key topics will be water resource management and drought prevention. Experts will evaluate measures that can help protect crucial water resources, essential for the future of agriculture.

Another panel will focus on ESG reporting under the CSRD directive, discussing new regulations affecting the agricultural sector and their implications for farms and agricultural enterprises.

Environmental and sustainable agriculture issues will also be highlighted. Panelists will discuss soil health, modern regenerative farming methods, and financing environmentally friendly initiatives. The assessment of current eco-schemes and proposals for their improvement will also be on the agenda.

Innovations and the future of polish agriculture

A special focus at the forum will be on modern agricultural technologies. One panel will explore innovations shaping the industry – from artificial intelligence and automation to the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data. Experts will present how these new solutions can enhance farm efficiency and contribute to sustainable development.

“Investing in new technologies is the key to the future of agriculture. Digitalization and innovative solutions allow farmers to increase work efficiency and better manage natural resources,” added Krzysztof Podhajski.

Another discussion will focus on the export of Polish agri-food products, examining systemic barriers limiting international expansion and strategies that could help Polish producers compete more effectively on the global market.

An important issue will also be the role of agricultural advisory services – both public and commercial – in modernizing the sector. Experts will discuss how farmers can access support in implementing new technologies, sustainable practices, and adapting to changing market conditions.

Social aspects of rural development

The VII European Agricultural Forum will also address the social aspects of rural life. One panel will explore demographic challenges and opportunities for social initiatives that can make rural areas more attractive for living and working. Experts will share successful projects that strengthen local communities.

A separate panel will be dedicated to agricultural startups, which are playing an increasingly significant role in the agri-business sector. Young entrepreneurs will share their experiences, and key success factors for innovative agricultural projects will be discussed.

The European Agricultural Forum 2025 promises to be an exceptional platform for substantive debate and experience exchange, influencing the future of the agri-food sector. The extensive thematic program will provide participants with valuable knowledge, opportunities to share experiences, and establish collaborations that will contribute to the further development of agriculture in Poland and Europe.
