Ammonia, methane or hydrogen – what should the path to industrial decarbonization look like? Where can we obtain green and clean energy? What role will white and green hydrogen play in the energy transition, and what about nuclear power? These topics and more will be discussed at the New Energy for Industry. Energy Carriers conference, which will take place on May 20–21 in Warsaw.
Green energy carriers – the foundation of decarbonization
In light of the need to achieve a 55% reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2030, choosing the right decarbonization pathway becomes crucial. Hydrogen – both white and green – biomethane, ammonia and nuclear energy will be analyzed as potential solutions for transforming the Polish industrial energy landscape.
The program will include a debate titled Net-zero Poland? Synergies between the economy and the energy system, moderated by Andrzej Sikora from the Institute for Energy Studies. Participants will address, among other topics, the role of hydrogen and ammonia in Poland’s energy system, decarbonization strategies, energy security, and investments in green technologies.
Industry facing new challenges
The event will also feature expert presentations showcasing real-world examples of implementing low-emission solutions:
– Szymon Walkowski from the Gdańsk Refinery will talk about the impact of the energy transition on industrial competitiveness
– Henryk Kubiczek from Grupa Azoty will present challenges and prospects of using low-emission hydrogen in industry
– Wojciech Adamczyk from the Silesian University of Technology will discuss ammonia as an energy carrier in district heating
– Piotr Mikusek from Grupa Azoty will analyze the impact of EU regulations on the future of industry in the context of Mario Draghi’s report
Experts on the future of Poland’s energy sector
The interview section will explore strategic questions: Is nuclear energy a chance for industry? Is Poland ready to fully harness the potential of biomethane and biogas? Among the invited guests are:
– Tomoho Umeda, president of Hynfra P.S.A., who will speak about the role of methane, hydrogen and ammonia in decarbonizing industry
– Wacław Gudowski from ORLEN Synthos Green Energy and a representative of the Ministry of Industry, who will address the future of nuclear energy in Poland
– A representative of the board of the Chamber of Biogas and Biomethane, who will outline the potential of bioenergy
New energy for industry. Energy carriers conference – strong expert backing
The high substantive quality of the conference is confirmed by numerous industry and scientific patrons, including:
