New World Bank report: water as key to shared prosperity
Water is not only an essential natural resource, but also a key determinant of social and economic well-being. Around the world, however, there are significant inequalities in access to clean water and adequate sanitation. Some 2.2 billion people worldwide still lack access to safe drinking water. The Water For Shared Prosperity report emphasizes that equitable access to water resources is an indispensable part of sustainable development. To achieve this goal, coordinated international action is needed.
