On-farm investments in RES and energy efficiency improvements under CAP 2023 – 2027

Given the current situation of rising electricity prices, farmers are increasingly looking for alternative energy sources. Due to the wide range of possibilities for the use of renewable energy sources on farms, RES-related investments can increasingly be found in rural areas. It is worth noting that in addition to the economic benefits for farms, the use of RES contributes to mitigating climate change or increasing carbon sequestration.

As part of the Common Agricultural Policy 2023 – 2027, one of the planned measures is on-farm investment in RES and energy efficiency improvements. The goal of the intervention is to reduce the pressure of agricultural activities on the environment, through the use of renewable energy, proper management of agricultural waste and by-products, and improved energy efficiency.

This intervention supports tangible or intangible investments (For details, see p. 611 of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy for 2023-2027 – short version). Specifically regarding construction or purchase:

• new equipment for the production of energy from agricultural biogas (electricity or heat or gaseous fuel) up to 50 kW or installations producing energy from solar radiation up to 50 kW with energy storage and energy management systems or with a heat pump – if it will be an integral part of the installation producing energy from solar radiation, the installation costs of the above. energy production equipment – the maximum amount of aid granted to a single beneficiary may not exceed PLN 1,500,000, with a maximum of PLN 200,000 for investments in solar energy production,
• Systems to improve the energy efficiency of farm buildings used for agricultural production such as the construction, reconstruction or purchase of biomass boilers, heat recovery systems (e.g.: from milk, livestock buildings, litter, manure), roof glazing, LED lighting, as well as thermal modernization of farm buildings used for agricultural production – the maximum amount of aid granted to one beneficiary may not exceed PLN 200,000.
