The Most Beautiful Beaches in Poland: Top 5 on the Baltic Sea
1. Świnoujście
For years, Świnoujście has appeared on lists of the most beautiful beaches in Poland, and it’s hard to call that a coincidence. This place is impressive above all for its sheer scale. The sandy shore stretches for kilometers, all within the city limits, and in some places the beach is as wide as 200 meters. Thanks to this, it never feels crowded, even at the height of the season.
The most famous section is located on the Usedom side of the island, along the promenade and near the main beach entrances. It’s a classic seaside resort with good infrastructure, supervised swimming areas, and family-friendly amenities, yet it retains an open, welcoming atmosphere. The beach is long, sandy, and slopes gently into the sea.
It’s worth remembering that Świnoujście isn’t just the main City Beach. Along the coast, there are also a dozen or so beach access points on the city side and several more on the other side of the Świna River. A distinctive landmark of this part of the coast is Stawa Młyny—a white navigational marker resembling a windmill, standing by the western breakwater. It is a symbol of the city and one of the most frequently photographed sights in the area.
One of Świnoujście’s strengths is not only the size of its beach, but also its quality. The beach has repeatedly received the international Blue Flag award, granted for, among other things, water quality, safety, beach management, and environmental initiatives.
2. Łeba
Łeba is located on the Słowiński Coast, near one of Poland’s most extraordinary natural areas—the Słowiński National Park. It is there, on the Łebska Spit, that the famous shifting sand dunes are found. The most famous of these— the Łącka Dune —lies between the Baltic Sea and Lake Łebsko and rises to a height of 30–42 m above sea level.
This landscape clearly sets Łeba apart from many other resorts. A short walk toward the park is all it takes to see vast expanses of light-colored sand, patches of buried forests, and open spaces that resemble a desert landscape more than the classic Polish coastline. The shifting sand dunes in this part of the park cover approximately 500 ha.
Łeba itself also offers excellent conditions for a vacation. The river that flows into the Baltic Sea here divides the beach into eastern and western sections. Closer to the center, there’s more vacation traffic, bars, and amenities, but further from the main entrances, it’s easy to find quieter spots. The beaches are wide, bright, and sandy, making them perfect for both family vacations and long walks along the water.
3. Hel
Hel’s location is unmistakable—it stands out among all other places on the Baltic Sea. It lies at the tip of the Hel Peninsula, where the land narrows and the sea surrounds it on several sides. The peninsula itself is about 35 km long, and at its narrowest point, near Kuźnica, it is only about 150 m wide.
The best-known beach is Duża Plaża, located on the open sea side, largely on the Hel Peninsula. It’s a good choice for those who want to experience the Baltic Sea in a more expansive, maritime setting. It’s wider, windier, and less urban here than on the bay side.
Hel also has a second, more peaceful side. Mała Plaża on Gdańsk Bay is located closer to the city center, the harbor, and the seal sanctuary, making it a great spot for a quick break while exploring the city. So, in one town, you can choose between two different types of beach experiences: a long walk by the open sea or relaxing closer to the attractions.
Added to this is the Hel Headland, the peninsula’s most protruding point, where the open waters of the Baltic Sea meet the Gulf of Gdańsk. It’s one of those spots on the map of the Polish coast that’s worth seeing at least once in a lifetime.
4. Lubiatowo and the Lubiatowo Dunes
Lubiatowo is the perfect choice for those looking for a quieter spot on the Baltic coast than the most famous seaside towns. It is located in the municipality of Choczewo, between Białogóra and Stilo, and is separated from the sea by a strip of pine trees. A path about two kilometers long leads through wooded terrain to the beach, so your walk is first accompanied by the shade of the trees and the scent of pine resin, and only later does the view of the Baltic Sea open up.
The beach in Lubiatowo is about 5 km long and up to 50 m wide in places. There are 8 access points leading to it, and seasonal facilities are available along the beach. However, the area retains a more peaceful atmosphere than popular resorts—there is no long promenade or dense development right along the shore.
The Lubiatowskie Dunes are a distinctive feature of the area. Their highest point rises to about 35 m above sea level, offering views of the Baltic Sea, the surrounding forests, and the sandy landscape. This is a less obvious side of the Polish coast—quieter, but still very impressive.
5. Słajszewo
Słajszewo, located in the municipality of Choczewo, is the perfect choice for those seeking peace, space, and a place free from the commercial hustle and bustle on the Baltic coast. The beach is famous for its wide strip of light-colored sand and its natural character. There are no densely packed buildings right on the shore, nor is there the atmosphere typical of the most crowded resorts.
However, getting to the beach takes a bit of effort. It’s about 4 km from the village center, a distance most people cover on foot or by bike. The route leads through a pine forest. It is precisely this distance that has allowed Słajszewo to retain its wild charm. It’s a hidden gem far from the crowds, where you can enjoy the beach without too many distractions.
