The basis of caring for sustainability is education. Without knowing the importance of caring for the environment and knowing how to act on it, you can’t hope for spectacular results. You can hear about the importance of education and information initiatives with every major project. They have been an integral part of it for quite a long time.
In recent months, there have been interesting educational materials for primary and secondary schools. The Ministry of Climate and Environment has posted a set of 40 lesson plans on climate change on its website. There are ready-made materials using various forms of learning, including. group work, brainstorming, discussions, presentations or self-study. The scenarios can be both a basis for didactic classes and additional activities carried out in interest circles. Include issues related to:
- climate science,
- Feedback with special emphasis on biodiversity,
- adaptation and mitigation,
- energy,
- The social impacts of climate change,
- sources of climate information.
It is not only the Ministry of Climate and Environment that has developed lesson plans on the environment. Wody Polskie has prepared educational materials as part of its ongoing projects. They concern, among other things, protection against drought and also floods. Interestingly, lecture outlines aimed at environmental students have also been prepared on the latter topic. Access to educational materials developed by professionals will facilitate the work of teachers and provide reliable and up-to-date sources of environmental information.
