The official start of the calendar summer is the high time to plan a holiday on the water. Especially since meteorologists are predicting more temperature records this year. Concerned for the health and safety of bathers, Wody Polskie has published a list of more than 700 Polish bathing sites that have received a positive opinion from regional boards. Check out where to stay while traveling in Poland.

Recommended bathing places in and around the sea

Recall that according to the Water Law, a bathing area must be approved by the Municipal Council and have designated swimming areas and permanent lifeguard supervision. In addition, the quality of the water must be checked regularly. A swimming pool is not: a swimming pool, a swimming or spa pool, an enclosed body of water subject to treatment or therapeutic use, or an artificial, enclosed body of water separate from surface water and groundwater.

According to the Regional Water Management Board in Gdansk, this year 32 bathing beaches in the Gdansk Bay area and sandy beaches on the open sea, from Jastarnia to Ustka, await vacationers. Those who prefer quieter bodies of water can take advantage of popular Kashubian lakes, such as the Kashubian Lake. Charzykowskie, Gowidlinskie or Wieleńskie. Lakeside bathing beaches are also tempting in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeships.

In addition to the sea bathing sites in Międzyzdroje, Rewal or even Pobierowo, RZGW in Szczecin also encourages recreation at 26 inland bathing sites. In the northern part of the country it is safe to bathe, for example, in the Noteć Water Region, where attractive lakes such as Gopło, Osiek and Drawsko await tourists.

Lakes, lagoons and rivers, i.e. safe bathing areas in the hinterland

Residents of central and southern Poland also have something to look forward to. RZGW in Bialystok is recommending 51 bathing sites to tourists this year, located among others. on lakes Mamry, Niegocin, Kisajno and Lake Wigry, listed by the International Union of Nature as one of the most valuable bodies of water in the world. Another 32 bathing beaches will be open around Lublin through the school vacation period, including as many as three on White Lake.

Warsaw’s RZGW welcomes 60 bathing sites, some of which are opening for the first time this year. Among the things awaiting tourists are. A 100-meter stretch of shoreline on the Narew River or a bathing site on the Rawka River, in Rawa Mazowiecka, which has enjoyed a reputation for excellence for the past three years. In contrast, 27 bathing sites received a positive assessment from the Krakow Regional Water Management Board. Among them was the Balaton reservoir on the site of a former quarry in Trzebinia, which is also annually classified as excellent in terms of quality. As many as six bathing beaches have been opened within the Municipality of Krakow to give city residents respite during hot weather – on the Bagry Wielkie, Zakrzówek and Brzegi II reservoirs.

There will be 16 bathing beaches in the vicinity of Rzeszow this season, including beaches on Lake Solina, the Biszcza-Zary Lagoon and the Bojary Lagoon, which will also be open from 2021. Has a reputation for quality excellence.

RZGW in Gliwice recommends 34 bathing sites to summer visitors, including, for example. Jurassic Beach located at the Amusement and Science Park in Krasiejów, and the popular 80-meter beach at the Middle Lake in Turawa. In the region around Wroclaw, 45 bathing sites have been opened, including as many as four within the city itself. In addition, the catchment management in Zielona Góra invites visitors to guarded bathing areas on the Bialy-Mialy, Krzycki Wielkie, Wieleńskie and Dominicki lakes.

Many opportunities for safe swimming can also be found in the Greater Lakeland. RZGW in Poznań has recommended as many as 90 bathing sites, among which an excellent quality class was awarded in previous years. bathing site in Niepruszewo, two bathing sites on Lake Kleckie, and the Dark River waterfront in Goluchow, measuring as much as 500 meters.

Where to look for up-to-date information?

The situation at individual bathing areas may change over time. It is affected, for example, by blooms of blue-green algae or golden algae, but also by local accidents related to emissions of pollutants of various origins. That’s why it’s always a good idea to check the latest information on water quality, which is monitored at least once a month from June 1 to September 30 by the State Sanitary Inspectorate.

All official Polish bathing sites are listed in the Bathing Sites Service, maintained by the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate. The site also features important announcements and reports from previous seasons.
