The 5th edition of ECOGMINA

We would like to inform you that on March 30 – 31, 2023. The 5th edition of ECOGMINA will be held in Gdansk. The motto of the event is environmental safety of the municipality.

The EKOGMINA conference is a unique industry forum that has been established as a platform for experts and practitioners in water and wastewater issues to exchange knowledge and experience. Representatives of local governments of small and medium-sized municipalities and water utilities, entrepreneurs and contractors in the sanitation industry were invited to the discussion.

The organizer of this event is the BIOPRO consulting and design company, which for many years has been involved in projects related to wastewater treatment, water management, reclamation of water bodies, air purification and environmental assessment. BIOPRO’s mission is to provide practical solutions to technological problems to improve the well-being of residents today and in the future

The 5th edition of ECOGMINA – issues from the plenary sessions

1. Safety and security of water resources under extreme conditions.
2. Changes in the management of water and wastewater services due to geopolitical, climatic and technological changes.
3. Energy security and critical infrastructure threats.
4. Protection zones of water intakes – direct and indirect protection areas and risk analysis.
5. Directive 2020/2184 of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union of December 16, 2020. On the quality of water intended for human consumption. PFAS compounds and their removal.
6. Water supply security in the face of climate and geopolitical crises.
7. Use of wastewater at the treatment plant as process water.
8. Biogas plant as an effective use of sewage sludge.

There will be no shortage of topics related to municipalities’ approaches to water, wastewater and sludge and waste management in technological, economic and legal contexts. Issues will also be raised about the competencies these administrative units currently have and will need in the future in the context of environmental and energy security. Also on the agenda is a discussion of ways to develop effectively by raising and leveraging funds.

The second day of the event will be devoted to odor and toxic substance management in municipal facilities. For this purpose, conference participants will travel to Wejherowo, where a study visit will be made to the EKOFABRYKA Municipal Services Plant.
